چکیده

The reference values of the massic activities of each nuclide and their associated standard uncertainties were established based on the certified activity value of the standard solutions used for spiking the soil, taking into account the successive dilution steps, the mass of spiking solutions and the dry mass of the soil being spiked. Radionuclide Certified Value Bq kg Standard combined uncertainty Bq kg Mn 61.0 1.3 Co 82.6 2.0 Zn 29.9 1.0 Cd 248.7 5.2 Cs 59.4 1.7 Cs 68.5 1.4 Pb 48.0 1.6 Am 55.6 1.6

Correlation of gamma emitting radionuclides and radiological health hazards indices around Lancaster dam

Background: All human beings and living organisms are exposed to natural radiations on daily basis, which is mainly due to the activity concentration of primordial radionuclides 232Th, 238U and their products of decay together with the natural radionuclide 40K present in the earth’s crust. Materials and Methods: A total of 59 soil samples were collected around the banks and surroundings of the ...

Distribution of radionuclide in the forest soils (Western Ghats-India)

Background: The presence of radionuclides in the soil, measures need to be taken to minimize the radiation dose to humans. It is mostly gamma-emitting radionuclides that contribute to the radiation dose in long term behavior of these radionuclides in soil may determine the extent to which such countermeasures need to be applied. Materials and Methods: The activity concentration of these radionu...

Terrestrial background radiation studies in South Konkan, Maharashtra, India

Background: The natural radionuclides are always present in soil and care needs to be taken to minimize the radiation dose to humans. These radionuclides are mostly gamma ray emitting radionuclides which contribute to the radiation dose in long term behavior of radionuclides in soil. Health hazards associated with natural radioactivity are of great concern and it is necessary to assess risk due...

Radionuclide transport above a near-surface water table: IV. Soil migration and crop uptake of chlorine-36 and technetium-99, 1990 to 1993.

Vertical distributions of (36)Cl and (99)Tc are presented from deep and shallow lysimeters above artificially controlled water tables for a 4-yr experiment from 1990 to 1993. Activity concentration profiles were all measured in late summer when a winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Pastiche) crop was harvested. After harvest, activity concentrations in different organs of the crop were deter...

Determination of radiological map of radionuclides distribution in soils ‎around of Shazand oil power plant

In this study, 34 soil samples were collected from the east of the Shazand power plant to the  Arak city, with a length of 25 km. The specific activities of radionuclides of 226Ra, 232Th, 40K, and 137Cs were determined using gamma-ray spectrometry method. Gamma-ray spectra registered to employ high purity germanium (HPGe) detector with 30% relative efficiency. Specific activities of correspondi...

External exposure to radionuclides accumulated in shoreline sediments with an application to the lower Clinch River.

A simple analytical method was developed to estimate external doses from exposure to contaminated riverine shorelines. The method consists of deriving an adjustment factor that accounts for the geometry of the riverine shoreline; the adjustment factor is applied to the dose-rate coefficients already available for infinite contaminated surfaces. Such a geometry factor circumvents very complex ra...
